Three Seriously Injured as Roadways Bus Collides with Truck in Dense Fog on Agra–Aligarh National Highway

A major road accident occurred on Thursday morning on the Agra–Aligarh National Highway (NH-93) in Hathras district due to dense fog and poor visibility, leaving three people seriously injured, including the bus driver and conductor.

The accident took place near Shri Hanuman Ji Police Outpost under Sasni Kotwali area, where a Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus traveling from Aligarh to Agra collided head-on with an out-of-control truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the front portions of both vehicles were completely damaged, triggering panic and chaos at the scene.

Details of the Incident

According to officials, the Roadways bus from Sohrab Depot was en route from Meerut to Agra, carrying six passengers. Due to extremely low visibility caused by thick fog, the bus driver reportedly failed to spot the oncoming truck in time, resulting in a direct collision.

The injured have been identified as:

  • Pradeep, son of Jaipal, bus driver (resident of Meerut)
  • Dilip, son of Gyanendra, bus conductor (resident of Fatehpur)
  • Rakesh, son of Hukum Singh, a passenger (resident of Meerut)

All three sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Sasni Community Health Centre (CHC) by 108 ambulance services, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Traffic Disrupted, Truck Driver Absconds

Following the accident, traffic on the highway was disrupted for a considerable time. Police personnel reached the spot promptly and removed the damaged vehicles to restore smooth traffic flow.

Meanwhile, the truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have launched an investigation and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding driver.

Passengers Escape Unhurt

Fortunately, other passengers aboard the bus escaped unhurt, averting a larger tragedy.

Authorities have once again urged motorists to exercise extreme caution during foggy conditions, especially on highways, as winter-related accidents continue to rise across the region.
