Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: Three minor sisters allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of a residential building in Ghaziabad in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. The incident has shocked residents of the Bharat City Society in the Tila Mod police station area.
The deceased have been identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12). According to police, residents heard a loud noise around 2 a.m. and rushed outside, where they found the girls critically injured. They were taken to hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigation suggests the sisters may have been heavily influenced by an online gaming application. Family members told police the girls had been regularly playing a task-based foreign online game despite repeated warnings. Investigators are examining whether the game involved psychological challenges or instructions that contributed to the incident.
Police officials said photographs and materials resembling gaming task patterns were found scattered in the girls’ room. A suspected note is also reported to have been recovered, and it is being examined as part of the investigation. An ACP-rank officer is leading the probe, and cyber experts may be involved to trace the origin and nature of the game.
Authorities added that the exact cause and sequence of events will be established only after a detailed forensic and digital analysis. The family is being questioned, and police are appealing to the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.
The tragedy has renewed concerns over unsupervised online gaming among minors and the potential psychological risks associated with harmful digital challenges.
