Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Uttar Pradesh has arrested three major drug traffickers in Bareilly. The accused were found in possession of large quantities of chemicals and narcotics, with an estimated market value of around ₹1.43 crore.
Late Tuesday night, the ANTF team apprehended the three inter-state traffickers near Hurhuri Mor, on Rampur Highway in the Mirganj police station area. Seized from them were chemicals used in heroin production, along with ready-to-sell narcotics.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Omendra, son of Matru Singh, resident of Bahorpura village, Binawar, Badaun district
- Manoj, son of Rajjan Singh, resident of Aundh village, Fatehganj Paschimi, Bareilly district
- Shakir, son of Shahamir, resident of Sahasa village, Visaratganj, Bareilly district
All three are reportedly active in inter-state drug trafficking. During interrogation, the accused admitted supplying Acetic Anhydride, a chemical used to produce heroin and smack, which they purchased at ₹2,000 per litre and distributed along with narcotics in nearby districts.
The ANTF revealed that the traffickers had arrived at the location to exchange Acetic Anhydride for heroin and cash when they were intercepted. During the raid, authorities seized:
- 52.5 kg of Acetic Anhydride
- 640 grams of illegal smack/heroin
- 3 mobile phones
- 1 Innova car
- Approximately ₹1.03 lakh in cash
This operation follows a similar seizure earlier on Sunday, when the ANTF arrested two inter-state traffickers arriving from Jharkhand with 11 kg of illegal opium in Bareilly.
