Satna, Madhavgarh: In a shocking case highlighting the dangers of substance abuse and greed, three local youths carried out a brutal attack on an elderly woman living alone in Madhavgarh, under the Kolagwan police jurisdiction. The accused gagged the victim, assaulted her with an iron rod and knife, and fled with gold and silver jewelry. Police swiftly solved the case and arrested all three perpetrators within 24 hours.
Planning the Crime While Smoking Cannabis
The three accused—Indrajit alias Chhotu, Uday Dwivedi, and Pranshu alias Allu—allegedly hatched the plan while sitting by the river on the night of 8 January, smoking cannabis and cigarettes. They decided to target the house of an elderly woman living near Uday’s residence. Around 2 AM on 9 January, they broke the lock and entered the house.
Victim Found Unconscious
The victim, Devmani Soni, lived alone. Her nephew, Brijkishore Soni, discovered the crime scene around 7 AM while stepping out for morning chores. He found his aunt lying unconscious near her bed, gagged, with blood on her face and head. A knife and iron rod were found nearby, indicating the violent attack.
Assault and Loot
When the victim stirred, the attackers, fearing identification, allegedly threw her onto the bed and struck her on the head and abdomen with the rod and knife. They stole two gold mangalsutras, silver bangles, and armlets before fleeing. Police investigation quickly traced the culprits, who turned out to be neighbors of the victim.
Police Action
The Kolagwan police registered a case immediately and took the three accused into custody. Officers are in the process of recovering the stolen items, and based on evidence, additional charges are expected to be added.
This case underscores the lethal combination of substance abuse, greed, and criminal intent, as well as the efficiency of local law enforcement in bringing the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
