Patna: The bitter defeat of the Mahagathbandhan in the Bihar Assembly elections has brought internal rifts within the Lalu family into the spotlight. Tej Pratap Yadav, leader of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal, launched a sharp attack on his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, who led the coalition.
Tej Pratap Targets Tejashwi
Speaking after the electoral setback, Tej Pratap said, “Those who abandon Dharma will lose. Those who walk with Krishna will win; those who leave Krishna will lose.” Tej Pratap has previously likened himself to Krishna and Tejashwi to Arjun, indicating his spiritual guidance role.
No Return to RJD
When asked about rejoining the RJD, Tej Pratap laughed and said, “How can we? We have already sworn on the Bhagavad Gita. With our faith in Krishna and Dharma, returning to RJD is not possible.” He emphasized the sanctity of the Gita and his personal beliefs in Krishna and Dharma as reasons for not rejoining the party.
Disrespect to Krishna
Tej Pratap further remarked, “Earlier we said Tejashwi is our Arjun, and I am Krishna. But some incidents have occurred. Where Krishna is disrespected, Krishna cannot remain.” He hinted at ongoing tensions with Tejashwi, reflecting the growing divide within the family.
Election Outcome and Family Fallout
Although Tejashwi Yadav retained his own seat, his dream of becoming Chief Minister was dashed. The Mahagathbandhan suffered a crushing defeat, winning only 33 seats compared to NDA’s 202. Before the elections, the Lalu family had reportedly sidelined Tej Pratap, a move he subtly attributed to Tejashwi, highlighting deepening family discord.
