CCTV Captures Bold Heist
According to police, the theft was carried out by three individuals. The CCTV footage shows one thief entering the sanctum sanctorum, while the other two remained near the windows, keeping watch. In a striking detail, the footage shows the main thief first paying respects to the goddess before beginning the theft.
The thief, wearing a mask and shoes, climbed onto the altar using a plastic bucket due to the elevated height of the idol. He removed a silver canopy, along with the goddess’s nose ring, necklace, and other ornaments, totaling more than three kilograms of silver.
Police Investigate
Immediately after the theft was reported, local police arrived at the scene and began a detailed investigation. Inspector Karan Khowal stated that CCTV footage from the temple and surrounding areas is being thoroughly examined. Suspects are being questioned, and the probe is being aided by the cyber cell and the dog squad. Authorities have assured that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
This theft follows a similar incident at the Boreswar Mahadev Temple in Dangwara village, Badnagar Tehsil, where the Ingoria police have yet to recover any stolen property even 72 hours later. Investigations in both cases rely heavily on CCTV recordings.
