The Most Terrifying Day of My Life”: Ambulance Drivers Recall Horrors of Delhi Red Fort Blast

New Delhi: The deadly Red Fort blast in Delhi claimed 12 lives, leaving an indelible mark on the witnesses, especially the ambulance drivers who rushed to the scene. Even days later, the memories of that fateful evening haunt them.

Bodies Scattered Everywhere
Ambulance driver Mohammad Faizan recounted, “I still can’t forget that evening. When we arrived, thick smoke made it impossible to identify who was where. Bodies were scattered in different places, some unrecognizable. The scene was unimaginable. We rushed the survivors to the hospital, but the devastation left a lasting impression on all of us.”

Horrifying Scenes
Driver Babbu Malik, another first responder, described the aftermath: “The blast was so brutal that even the faces of the victims were unrecognizable. Limbs and internal organs were exposed. It shook me to my core. The next day, I could barely eat—the images were still vivid in my mind.”

Confusion and Trauma
Babbu added, “Among the chaos, we found one survivor who was disoriented, looking for his family. His injuries were not life-threatening, but the shock was evident. We connected him with his wife over the phone while still in the ambulance. Soon, multiple government ambulances arrived to manage the crisis.”

The harrowing experiences of these first responders highlight the human cost of the attack and the emotional trauma endured by those who arrive first at disaster sites.
