Thackeray Brothers Share Warm Moment on Bal Thackeray’s 100th Birth Anniversary

Mumbai: On the occasion of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray’s 100th birth anniversary, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray shared a rare and affectionate moment, dispelling speculation about discord between the brothers. After two decades of political distance, the two leaders appeared together, with Raj Thackeray warmly welcoming his elder brother Uddhav to the event.

The highlight came when the event host requested Uddhav to honor Raj on stage. Raj’s surprised reaction drew laughter from the audience before he graciously accepted the gesture. Later, Sanjay Raut, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), draped a ceremonial shawl over Raj, and the two brothers exchanged respectful gestures, displaying visible camaraderie and mutual regard.

Political Context
Last year, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray had come together to contest municipal elections across Maharashtra, including the Mumbai BMC polls. Despite predictions by political analysts that the brothers’ reconciliation might be short-lived, the event showcased their renewed cordiality. Raj Thackeray, who leads the MNS, and Uddhav, 8 years his senior, appeared in complete harmony, reflecting both familial respect and political decorum.

Uddhav, who has never contested a direct election but served as an MLC, was given full respect by Raj, reinforcing his position as the senior figure in the family after Bal Thackeray. Raj, 57, and Uddhav, 65, demonstrated through their gestures that personal bonds and family legacy continue to play an important role in their political interactions.

The event also saw Raj Thackeray’s son, Amit Thackeray, honoring Uddhav, further emphasizing the unity and respect within the Thackeray family on this significant occasion.
