Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: A clash over an apartment construction tender at Sridham Apartments has sparked political and administrative attention in Meerut. BJP Kisan Morcha’s regional vice-president Ajay Bharala and builder Sachin Rajvanshi were involved in a heated confrontation, which escalated to alleged threats with firearms. A video of the argument and scuffle went viral on social media, drawing police scrutiny.
Background of the Dispute
The dispute centers around a tender for constructing 24 flats at Sridham Apartments. Builder Sachin Rajvanshi, a resident of Alpine Heights on Delhi Road, along with his partner Amit Kansal, secured the tender. Rajvanshi stated that an advance payment of ₹10 lakh was made and the foundation ceremony was held on 5 September, with construction equipment, generators, and security arranged at the site.
Controversy Over Tender Assignment
On 4 December, a meeting of all apartment stakeholders took place at the Parshuramji Trust office, attended by BJP leader Sunil Bharala. It was decided that Ajay Bharala would receive a 30% share in the apartment project. Subsequently, Ajay allegedly handed the tender to his brother-in-law Vishnu, which triggered the ongoing dispute.
AK-47 Allegations
On 16 December, builder Rajvanshi and Amit Kansal visited the apartment site to recover their investment. According to Rajvanshi, a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Ajay Bharala allegedly pursued them with an AK-47 rifle through his security guard, attempting to cause serious harm.
BJP Leader Denies Allegations
Ajay Bharala has strongly denied the claims, asserting that Rajvanshi arrived at the site with four associates armed with pistols and initiated the confrontation. He added that the dispute primarily involved his brother-in-law Vishnu and the builder. Vishnu has also filed a report at Kankar Kheda police station regarding the matter.
Police Investigation Underway
Frustrated by the lack of action, the builder met with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on Thursday. Following instructions from the SSP, Circle Officer Daurala, Prakash Chandra Agarwal, has been assigned to investigate the case. While CCTV footage from the apartment site is unavailable, the police have received a mobile video from the builder and are conducting a detailed inquiry.
