A long-standing dispute over a house in Bazarija Chowk, Makbara Diggi, escalated into violent clashes late Monday night, leaving nine people injured and the area tense. Shockingly, both the local police inspector and the outpost in-charge were allegedly found drunk while on duty, prompting swift action from senior officials.
House Dispute Turns Violent
According to reports, Naushad recently purchased a house from Mobin, a property that Shamim claims belongs to the Waqf Board. The disagreement had been simmering for days, with heated arguments earlier on Monday evening. However, matters spiraled out of control around midnight when both groups confronted each other again.
Within minutes, the argument escalated into chaos. Stones were pelted from both sides, and empty liquor bottles were hurled as makeshift weapons. The violent exchange continued for nearly 30 minutes, injuring nine people and creating panic in the locality.
Inspector Accused of Being Drunk, Failed to Respond
When the incident was reported to the police station, Inspector Dheeraj Singh reportedly failed to reach the spot due to being heavily intoxicated. Instead, KesarGanj outpost in-charge Pramod Kumar arrived with a police team to control the situation.
Both groups were later taken to the police station, where they allegedly clashed again, creating further disorder.
Outpost In-Charge Also Accused of Assault
During the inquiry, accusations also surfaced against the outpost in-charge, claiming he assaulted individuals while attempting to disperse the groups.
Sensing the severity of the situation, CO Naveena Shukla and SP City Ayush Vikram Singh rushed to the spot. Their investigation revealed that not just the inspector but the outpost in-charge was also under the influence of alcohol.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada immediately suspended both officers and ordered a detailed inquiry by the Cantonment Circle Officer.
Tension Continues in the Area
Police have filed separate FIRs from both Naushad and Shamim’s groups. A third case has been registered under the Sevan Criminal Act based on the outpost in-charge’s complaint. Several individuals have been detained, and injured persons are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
While the situation is currently under control, tension continues to grip the area as police maintain strict vigil to prevent further escalation.
