Tej Pratap Yadav Halts Controversial Song at Makar Sankranti Celebration, Calls for Devotional Music

Patna: During the traditional Chura-Dahi celebration at his official residence on Makar Sankranti, RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav sparked a stir by stopping a viral Bhojpuri song he deemed inappropriate. The incident sent a strong message that his events would uphold cultural and religious decorum, steering clear of caste-based or vulgar content.

The celebration, attended by leaders and supporters from both ruling and opposition parties, included a cultural program with music and performances. As a singer began performing a popular Bhojpuri track, some attendees enthusiastically joined in. However, Tej Pratap Yadav promptly intervened, using the microphone to stop the song. He reportedly said:
“Stop this song. What are you singing? Sing devotional songs, songs for God. No more caste-based ‘Yadav’ songs. Sing bhajans for Lord Krishna.”

The singer attempted to continue with a line from the song, “Hum Yadav Ji Ke @#$ Hain,” which had previously sparked controversy. Tej Pratap immediately halted the performance, emphasizing that no vulgar or caste-focused songs would be allowed during the festive event. He urged the singer to stick to devotional music, highlighting the importance of maintaining religious and cultural propriety during festivals.

Public Applauds His Move

The video of Tej Pratap Yadav’s intervention quickly went viral, earning praise from the public. Observers noted that unlike his brother Tejashwi Yadav, who reportedly issued notices to singers of controversial songs during elections, Tej Pratap acted decisively and swiftly during his own event. Analysts suggest this reflects his attempt to carve out a distinct political path, emphasizing cultural respect and moral conduct at public events.
