Tehri Lake Festival 2026 Promises a Fusion of Adventure and Culture

Tehri, Uttarakhand: Preparations are in full swing for the Tehri Lake Festival 2026, to be held at Koti Colony in Tehri Garhwal. District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal recently conducted an on-site inspection and review meeting to oversee arrangements and issued necessary directions to officials to ensure the event runs smoothly.

During the inspection, the DM emphasized the optimal utilization of the festival grounds and stressed that all arrangements must be completed on schedule. A detailed discussion on the event’s planning was later held with local representatives and officials at Le Roy Hotel.

Exciting Competitions and Programs
Chief Development Officer Varuna Agrawal outlined the wide array of activities planned for the festival. Highlights include MasterChef Tehri, photography contests, rap and painting competitions, a hill-themed fashion show ‘Mr. & Ms. Tehri’, rafting, and a kite show. Adventure enthusiasts can also enjoy trekking, paragliding, water sports, mountain biking, and a food festival. Winners of various competitions will receive prize money of ₹100,000 for first place, ₹50,000 for second, and ₹25,000 for third.

The festival will also feature programs under the “Save Ganga” theme, showcasing the heritage of Old Tehri and promoting regional culture. Awareness campaigns and cultural performances will highlight local traditions and boost tourism.

Community Engagement and Coordination
Municipal officials shared updates on festival arrangements: Tehri Municipality Chairperson Mohan Rawat spoke about decorations and a football tournament in New Tehri, while Neelam Bijlwan of Muni Ki Reti emphasized promoting cleanliness through the kite show.

Local legislators, including Ghansali MLA Shaktilal Shah, BJP district president Uday Rawat, and other municipal leaders, attended the meeting alongside various department officials. The DM instructed all departments to work in coordination to ensure the festival’s success, blending both adventure and cultural experiences for visitors.
