Rewa: A shocking theft unfolded during a wedding in Rewa district, when a jewelry box belonging to a mother went missing—only to be revealed that the culprit was her own teenage son. The Chaurahata Police, using mobile tracking technology, traced the boy and uncovered the startling truth.
Jewelry and Son Disappear Together
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon around 2 PM, when a woman visiting Rewa from Sidhi district for a family wedding noticed that her jewelry box was missing. Her suspicion intensified when she realized that her teenage son was also absent. Police immediately began searching for the boy after his mobile phone went offline.
By late Saturday night, the teen was located in Sidhi. Initially, he denied involvement, even when questioned by his mother. However, after sustained questioning by police, he eventually confessed to the theft.
Hidden at a Friend’s House
The boy admitted that he had stolen the jewelry to repay debts incurred through his addiction to online gaming. He had hidden the jewelry box at a friend’s house in Sidhi.
This incident echoes a recent case in Uttar Pradesh, where a child had similarly handed over valuable jewelry worth lakhs of rupees in exchange for food items.
Police Comment
The Rewa Police emphasized the importance of vigilance during social gatherings and highlighted how modern technology, like mobile tracking, can quickly solve theft cases—even when the perpetrator is a close family member.
