Mathura, UP: Renowned storyteller and Gauri-Gopal Ashram head Swami Aniruddhacharya shared details of his first earnings during a recent Katha. He revealed that his initial income came from a nine-day Katha in Prayagraj, where he earned ₹3,000.
During the discourse, Swami Aniruddhacharya emphasized the importance of using earnings wisely to meet genuine needs rather than personal luxuries. While his peers spent their first earnings on mobile phones, he chose to invest in a harmonium to pursue his passion for music. “At that time, what I truly needed was a harmonium to learn music. I thought, why buy a mobile?” he said. The harmonium he purchased with his first earnings still remains with him.
Message on Responsible Earnings
The Katha highlighted the importance of channeling one’s income towards meaningful purposes. Swami Aniruddhacharya encouraged his audience to avoid misusing money and to prioritize necessities and skill development.
Giving Back to the Community
Reflecting on his journey, he said, “Wherever I have earned, I am giving back.” He is now running an Akhand Rasoi (community kitchen) at the Prayagraj Magh Mela for devotees, as a way to repay the blessings and support he received at the beginning of his storytelling career. He reminded listeners to acknowledge and give back to those who contributed to their growth and success, emphasizing gratitude and responsibility alongside achievement.
