Suspicious Death of Married Woman in Araria Sparks Sensation After Husband’s Alleged Second Marriage

Araria: A sensational case involving an alleged extramarital affair, a secret second marriage, and a village-level settlement has surfaced in Bihar’s Araria district, where a married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances. The incident has triggered serious allegations of murder against the husband and in-laws.

The case has been reported from the Phulkaha police station area of Araria district. The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Priyanka Kumari, was the mother of three children. Her body was found inside her matrimonial home, prompting allegations from her parental family that she was murdered due to her husband’s illicit relationship.

According to the family members, Priyanka’s husband, Ajay Kumar Das, had been in an illegal relationship with another woman from the same village for about a year. During this period, he allegedly subjected Priyanka to continuous mental and physical harassment. The family further alleged that Ajay secretly married the other woman, which led to prolonged disputes between the couple.

The matter was reportedly taken before a village panchayat, following which Ajay brought Priyanka back to the matrimonial home. However, the dispute remained unresolved. On Sunday, Priyanka was found dead under suspicious circumstances, sending shockwaves through the area.

Upon receiving information from neighbors and the victim’s in-laws, Priyanka’s parental family, residents of Chunni village in Chhatapur block of Supaul district, rushed to the spot and informed the police.

Phulkaha police immediately reached the scene and began an investigation. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect samples from the spot for scientific examination. The body was taken into custody and sent to Araria Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Phulkaha Station House Officer Vikas Kumar Maurya said that the room where the body was found has been sealed for investigation. The victim’s husband Ajay Kumar Das and his father Nebu Das have been taken into custody and are being interrogated.

The victim’s mother, Renu Devi, alleged that her daughter was murdered by her husband with the help of other family members. She claimed that despite the panchayat intervention, the harassment continued and ultimately led to her daughter’s death.

Police said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and forensic findings. The investigation is ongoing.
