“Stone-Pelting on MEMU Train at Bhadohi’s Gyanpur Road Station; Six Passengers Injured, Train Delayed 35 Minutes”

Bhadohi: Panic broke out at Gyanpur Road railway station in Bhadohi on Monday morning when illegal vendors reportedly pelted stones at a MEMU train traveling from Varanasi to Prayagraj. The attack left six passengers, including a government employee, injured. The train remained stranded at the station for approximately 35 minutes, causing severe inconvenience to travelers.

According to eyewitnesses, the MEMU train (No. 65111) arrived at Gyanpur Road station around 8:13 AM. During the scheduled halt, one illegal vendor attempted to board the train forcefully carrying a kettle, shoving passengers in the process. When travelers resisted, the vendor and his accomplices became aggressive and began pelting stones inside the train, creating chaos as passengers scrambled for safety.

The injured include Om Ji Maurya, Sunil Jaiswal of Ahimanpur Khamariya, Chandreshwar Pratap Singh of Joginka, Adarsh Pandey of Sujatpur, Kuldeep Pandey of Chhatmi, as well as a woman and another male passenger. Several were admitted to the community health center for immediate treatment.

As the train tried to resume its journey, someone pulled the emergency chain, forcing it to stop again. The train finally departed for Prayagraj at around 8:50 AM, 35 minutes behind schedule. Injured passengers filed a formal complaint demanding strict action against the culprits.

Travelers allege that illegal vendors operate with impunity at the station, engaging in disputes, harassment, and illicit trade, including liquor disguised as bottled water. While GRP officials claimed ignorance regarding the matter, RPF authorities reportedly cut off calls when questioned about the illegal activities.

This is not the first incident involving illegal vendors at Gyanpur Road station. Passengers have warned that without timely and stringent action, more serious incidents may occur in the future. GRP has taken one suspect into custody, while the search for other perpetrators continues.
