Standoff on Dwarka Expressway: NHAI Team Clashes with Builder Outside Sovereign Park Society

Gurugram, Haryana: Tensions escalated late Wednesday night on Dwarka Expressway as an NHAI team arrived to install railings outside Sovereign Park Society in Sector-99, leading to a clash with the society’s security personnel and the builder. The incident prompted police intervention, halting the work temporarily.

The Clash

Around 10 PM, the NHAI team reached the site to continue railing installation along the expressway. As soon as they arrived, the builder’s security staff stopped the work, citing concerns over the society’s only entry and exit point connecting directly to the expressway. Security officials argued that installing railings there would block access for residents, leading to a standoff between the two sides.

Police Intervene

The NHAI team contacted the police, and officers from Sector-9 police station quickly arrived. Despite showing the team’s legal permissions to carry out the work, the society’s security refused to relent. To prevent escalation, police halted the installation work. Head Constable Satbir of Sector-9 stated that the decision was made to avoid any potential conflict.

NHAI and Builder Perspectives

NHAI officials argued that allowing such unregulated exits on the highway is unsafe and could increase the risk of accidents. Meanwhile, the builder’s security officer, Manish Gaur, emphasized that this is the society’s only access point, and closing it for railing installation would disrupt residents’ daily movement.

Authorities have indicated that further action will be guided by senior officers, aiming to balance safety along the expressway with the society residents’ access needs.
