Stain on the Khaki: PAC Jawan Arrested in Mathura for Looting Silver Trader from Hathras

Mathura, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking development that has raised questions over police integrity, a Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel has been arrested for his involvement in the loot of a silver trader from Hathras in Mathura. The accused, identified as Lakhmi, was apprehended while posted in Agra. Authorities recovered 474 grams of silver and ₹8,000 cash from him.

Incident Details
According to Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar, the incident occurred on 6 January near Dauli Pyau in the Kotwali police station area. The silver trader, a resident of Hathras, was returning from a train coming from Chhindwara when a Baleno car arrived at the station. Two men in uniform, along with another accomplice, attempted to loot the trader, falsely accusing him of involvement in drugs. When the trader resisted, his bag was snatched amidst the chaos.

Intensive Police Action
Upon receiving the complaint, the control room issued an alert, triggering an intensive district-wide checking operation. The efforts led to the identification and arrest of the three individuals involved and the seizure of the vehicle used in the crime. Two other accused, Rohit and Gopal, residents of the trader’s village, were also apprehended for their role in informing the attackers.

Extent of Loot Recovered
The total seizure from the accused now stands at approximately 2.956 kilograms of silver, ₹68,000 cash, and illegal firearms. The stolen bag of the trader and the getaway vehicle were also recovered.

Police Image Under Scrutiny
The arrest of PAC jawans Narendra and Lakhmi, both posted in Agra but residents of Mathura, has cast a shadow on the police department. The incident has sparked serious questions about accountability and integrity within the force. SSP Shlok Kumar assured that strict action is being taken against the culprits, signaling zero tolerance for such misconduct.
