Sikar, Rajasthan, January 14, 2026: The stretch of Reengus-Khatushyamji road in Sikar district has become a hotspot for accidents, as speed and negligence continue to take a heavy toll. On Makar Sankranti, a horrifying accident claimed two lives and left four others critically injured, marking the third consecutive day of road mishaps in the area.
Early Wednesday morning, around 4:30 am, a WagonR car carrying devotees to Khatushyamji temple lost control near Hotel Makhan Matki. The car overturned and crashed into a roadside tree, leaving it severely damaged. Rinku Saini and Amit of Mathura were declared dead at the scene, while driver Durgesh Saini, Ajay Yadav, Keval Saini, and Vinod sustained serious injuries. Three critically injured victims were referred to Sikar hospital for advanced treatment. Preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred due to driver fatigue and a brief doze behind the wheel.
Alarming Three-Day Accident Spree
The Reengus-Khatushyamji road has witnessed four major accidents in just three days. On Monday evening, a biker died after a collision with a dumper. On Tuesday afternoon, a head-on collision between a truck and a Swift car killed Deepanshu Sharma (20) and Lucky Agrawal (27), requiring JCB machinery to extract victims from the wreckage. Later Tuesday evening, a collision between a car and a three-wheeler tempo near Lakhani Mor left nine people injured, six of whom were sent to Jaipur for further treatment.
Over the past 36 hours, these incidents have claimed five lives and left 14 people injured, raising serious concerns among authorities and locals alike. Police officials have warned drivers to exercise extreme caution, avoid driving when fatigued, and strictly adhere to speed limits and traffic regulations.
The police emphasized that while the road is a route of religious devotion, speed and negligence continue to turn faith into a pathway to tragedy. Authorities have urged both pilgrims and commuters to exercise restraint, especially during early morning and late-night journeys.
