Sonbhadra, February 13, 2026: In a horrifying case, a special POCSO court in Sonbhadra has sentenced a father to life imprisonment for raping his 15-year-old daughter, who became pregnant as a result of the assault. The court also imposed a fine of ₹1.5 lakh to be paid to the victim. Failure to pay the fine will lead to an additional six months of imprisonment.
The incident occurred in April 2025 in a village under Chopan police station, where the 33-year-old father allegedly raped his minor daughter, resulting in a seven-month pregnancy. The case came to light when the victim’s maternal uncle filed a complaint at Chopan police station on October 27, 2025. Following a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed, and the court formally framed the charges on January 7, 2026.
Special Judge Amit Veer Singh, presiding over the POCSO case, reviewed arguments from both sides, statements of nine witnesses, and the full case record. In just 35 days, the court delivered its verdict, convicting the father.
