Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has made explosive remarks regarding the mysterious death of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Speaking in Delhi during the Budget session, Raut questioned how a senior leader like Ajit Pawar could die in a plane crash under such circumstances.
Raut drew a parallel with the Justice Loya case, saying the events surrounding Ajit Pawar’s death raise serious concerns. “Ajit Pawar had expressed his desire to return home—referring to the NCP merger—but he was allegedly threatened with files related to the irrigation scam. Within ten days, he met a mysterious death in a plane crash. Something is clearly wrong,” Raut said. He added that these concerns are being raised by Ajit Pawar’s own party, noting that the incident deserves a thorough investigation.
Raut also referred to statements by NCP leader Amol Mitkari, who highlighted discrepancies in the crash details: although six people were reported dead, only five bodies were recovered. Questions remain over passenger lists, frequent pilot changes, and other inconsistencies.
The crash of Ajit Pawar’s private Learjet 45 on 28 January 2026 at 8:44 AM is currently under investigation by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), with support from Maharashtra Police’s CID. A case has also been registered in Baramati.
