Banka (Bihar): A major case of cheating has surfaced during the ongoing Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Matric Examination 2026, where a solver racket was exposed in Banka district. The incident came to light on the second day of the Class 10 examinations, raising serious concerns over malpractice despite strict vigilance.
According to officials, the accused students had arranged ‘engines’—a local term used for impersonators who appear in place of original candidates—to attempt the Mathematics examination. Shockingly, investigators found that this was not an organized gang operation, but rather students themselves had managed to arrange solvers for their benefit.
Math Exam Deal Fixed for ₹10,000
During routine checking, invigilators caught two impersonators at different examination centres. It was revealed that a deal worth ₹10,000 had been made to clear the Mathematics paper.
At RMK Inter School Examination Centre in Banka town, an impersonator identified as Badal Kumar was found sitting in place of the actual candidate Om Kumar. Before the exam could begin, the invigilators verified his admit card and identity documents and immediately detained him.
Impersonator Took ₹7,000 as Advance
During questioning, Badal Kumar admitted that he had been hired by Om Kumar for ₹10,000 to take the Mathematics exam. He further disclosed that he had already received ₹7,000 as an advance payment, while the remaining amount was to be paid after completion of the paper.
Officials said the impersonator was expected to write the exam on behalf of the student and ensure he passed.
Second Case Reported from Barahat Block
A similar incident was reported from the Mohannpur Examination Centre in Barahat block, where another impersonator named Pran Kumar was caught while appearing for the exam in place of the actual candidate Bajrangi Kumar.
Both impersonators were taken into custody and handed over to police for further legal action.
Strict Vigilance Prevents Major Malpractice
Authorities credited strict monitoring and document verification for preventing a larger cheating attempt. The BSEB and district administration have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in unfair means, including candidates, impersonators, and those facilitating such activities.
Police are currently investigating whether more students were involved and if the cheating attempt was linked to a wider network.
