Siwan Revenue Official Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe of ₹15,000

Siwan: A revenue department employee in Siwan was arrested while accepting a bribe, highlighting the vigilance crackdown against corruption. The official, identified as Dilip Kumar Sinha, was caught taking ₹15,000 in exchange for facilitating land record modifications.

Caught in Vigilance Operation
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team conducted the operation on Friday at an unauthorized office in Gopalpur Chak Market under the Hussainpur police jurisdiction. The raid was led by Vigilance DSP Shyam Babu Prasad.

The complaint against Sinha was lodged on November 10 by Shrey Raj, a resident of Hasanpura village, who alleged that Sinha demanded ₹65,000 for altering land records. Shocked by the exorbitant demand, the complainant initially refused to pay, leading Sinha to cancel his application twice. Later, Sinha agreed to receive the payment in installments, with ₹15,000 as the first installment.

Red-Handed Arrest
After a covert verification confirmed the allegations, a case was filed against Sinha on November 26. Following a well-planned strategy, the six-member VIB team apprehended Sinha while he accepted ₹15,000 from the complainant.

Following preliminary investigations, Sinha will be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur and sent to judicial custody.
