Noida, Uttar Pradesh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta held a three-hour meeting at the Noida Authority boardroom on Monday. Following the meeting, the SIT members visited the accident site in Sector 150 to conduct an on-spot inspection.
District Magistrate Medha Rupam and the Police Commissioner were present during the meeting. Statements from Yuvraj’s father and other family members were recorded. The SIT expressed concern that despite the severity of the incident, no senior authority had visited the site immediately after the accident. The team is also reportedly scrutinizing officials from the Authority’s traffic department.
Incident Recap
On Friday night, Yuvraj Mehta’s car crashed through a damaged boundary wall and fell into a deep water-filled pit while returning to Noida from Gurugram. Dense fog reportedly prevented him from seeing the wall. Yuvraj called his father for help and remained trapped in the car, signaling for assistance for nearly two hours before drowning.
SIT Formation and Mandate
The tragic incident prompted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to constitute a three-member SIT comprising the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut, ADG Zone Meerut, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The team has been instructed to complete its investigation and submit a report within five days.
