Sip Your Tea, Then Eat the Cup! Damoh Introduces Innovative ‘Biscuit Tea Cups’

Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, January 5, 2026: Imagine finishing your tea and then munching on your cup itself! This is no longer a fantasy. Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh has introduced a unique “biscuit cup” — an edible tea cup that promises to revolutionize the way people enjoy tea while promoting environmental sustainability.

The innovative cup, made entirely from biscuit material, allows tea drinkers to savor their hot beverage and then enjoy the cup as a snack. This eco-friendly invention eliminates disposable plastic waste, offering a tasty solution to a growing environmental problem.

During a demonstration at Damayanti Palace, Collector Sudhir Kochar and Superintendent of Police Shrutkirti Somvanshi showcased the biscuit cups to the media. Both officials personally enjoyed tea in these edible cups, with Collector Kochar explaining that the initiative is not only a delightful culinary experience but also a powerful step toward reducing plastic pollution.

“The biscuit cup is more than just a vessel; it is an innovative tool to protect our environment,” Kochar said. He encouraged the public to embrace this idea, emphasizing that once your tea is finished, the cup itself becomes a delicious snack — eliminating the need for disposable cups that often choke drains and pollute the soil.

Health and safety are also major advantages. Unlike plastic cups, which may release harmful chemicals when in contact with hot beverages, the biscuit cup is completely natural, safe, and wholesome.

The Damoh administration has described this initiative as a milestone in eco-friendly innovation. Both Collector Kochar and SP Somvanshi urged citizens to adopt small sustainable practices — like using cloth bags instead of plastic and edible cups instead of disposable ones — to make Damoh one of India’s cleanest and healthiest cities.

With this creative solution, tea time in Damoh is set to become not only enjoyable but also environmentally responsible.
