Sikar, Rajasthan: Shocking Act of Cruelty as Dog Shot Dead, Panic Grips Area

A disturbing incident of animal cruelty has come to light from Rajasthan’s Sikar district, sending shockwaves across the local community. In the Dadia police station area, an unidentified person allegedly shot a dog dead, triggering fear and outrage among residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the dog was hit by gunfire and ran around in a severely injured, blood-soaked condition before collapsing outside a house. It reportedly writhed in pain for several minutes before succumbing to its injuries on the spot. The brutal act has left villagers stunned and anxious.

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. Officials found bullet injury marks at two places on the dog’s body. The carcass has been sent to a veterinary hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and the number of bullets fired.

The incident is reported to have occurred in Ramnagar village of the Gungara area. ASI Rohitash Kumar stated that locals informed the police about the shooting. During initial inquiries, it emerged that the dog did not belong to any specific household in the village. Efforts are currently underway to trace the accused as well as to ascertain whether the dog had an owner.

So far, no written complaint has been formally registered. Police officials have clarified that appropriate legal action will be initiated once a complaint is received and evidence is consolidated.

This shocking act of violence against a voiceless animal has raised serious questions: Why was the dog targeted? Who is the perpetrator, and how did they obtain a firearm? The incident has revived concerns over illegal weapons and rising intolerance, even towards animals.

Notably, a similar case had surfaced about four months ago in Jhunjhunu district’s Nawalgarh area, where a man allegedly shot dead more than 25 dogs, a case that later led to his arrest. The Sikar incident has once again brought the issue of animal cruelty into sharp focus, with residents demanding swift action and strict punishment for the culprit.
