SIB Raids Six Locations in Aligarh, Flags ₹200 Crore GST Evasion at Meat Factory

Aligarh: The Special Investigation Branch (SIB) of the Uttar Pradesh State Tax Department carried out a major operation in Aligarh on Friday, raiding six locations including the meat processing unit Al Dua Food Processing. Preliminary findings indicate potential GST evasion exceeding ₹200 crore.

During the raids, the factory management immediately deposited ₹1.15 crore in taxes on the spot. Intensive investigations are ongoing at the factory and other sites.

According to officials, simultaneous raids were conducted at meat units in Amarpur Kondla and Mehrawal areas near the Mathura bypass. The investigation revealed discrepancies between reported sales and actual transactions, with evidence of falsified Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims.

The SIB team also discovered a warehouse that was not listed in any official records. The factory management reportedly undervalued goods and concealed taxable sales.

The operation was directed by the Additional Commissioner, Aligarh Zone, under the supervision of the Joint Commissioner of SIB. Over 30 officers, led by the Deputy Commissioner of SIB, conducted the raids with police support.

Significant GST-related documents and digital records were seized. Investigators found that despite GST being zero-rated on exports, the factory allegedly evaded millions in taxes. The SIB suspects that fake firms were used to generate false invoices to claim ITC fraudulently. Additionally, products such as fat, hides, bones, and some meat were reportedly sold in the domestic market for cash, bypassing official records.

Seized documents are now being reconciled with stock and banking transactions. The SIB has indicated that further revelations may emerge as investigations continue.
