Shuttle Train to Run for the First Time Between Ranchi–Lohardaga–Daltonganj, Proposed Timetable Released

Ranchi, Jharkhand: In a major boost for railway connectivity in Jharkhand, the Ranchi Railway Division of South Eastern Railway has prepared a historic proposal to introduce a shuttle train service for the first time on the Ranchi–Lohardaga–Daltonganj (Medininagar) route. The proposal has been forwarded to the headquarters for final approval, and once clearance is granted, the service will be launched immediately.

Railway officials believe this new shuttle service will significantly reduce travel time and cut transportation costs for passengers, particularly benefiting daily commuters, students, traders, and patients traveling to Ranchi for education and medical facilities.

Proposed Timetable: Daltonganj to Ranchi Overnight Journey

As per the proposed schedule, the shuttle train will depart from Daltonganj (Medininagar) between 11 PM and 12 midnight and reach Ranchi around 6 AM, halting at multiple stations along the way. The Railway Division is planning to operate two trips daily on this route, making it a reliable option for passengers who need to reach the state capital early in the morning.

Boost to Regional Development

Officials stated that the shuttle train will greatly improve connectivity for people in Latehar, Barwadih, Lohardaga, and surrounding areas. The service is expected to strengthen regional trade, support employment movement, and ensure easier access to Ranchi’s major institutions and hospitals. It will also reduce dependence on buses and private vehicles, making travel safer, cheaper, and more convenient.

Railway Official Confirms Proposal Sent

Confirming the development, Ranchi DRM Karunanidhi Singh said that the proposal has already been submitted to the headquarters.

“This is the first proposal for a shuttle service between Ranchi, Lohardaga and Daltonganj. Once approval is received, operations will begin. This train will prove to be a major relief for people of Daltonganj and nearby regions, especially for education and healthcare access,” he stated.

Shuttle Train Plan for Hazaribagh Also Under Preparation

Apart from this, the Ranchi Railway Division is also preparing another shuttle service proposal for Hazaribagh, planned on the Ranchi–Hazaribagh via Mesra route. This proposal is expected to be sent to the headquarters soon, further strengthening Jharkhand’s railway infrastructure.

Railway authorities believe that these shuttle services will not only improve passenger convenience but also accelerate overall economic and social development in the region.
