Sonbhadra, UP: In a shocking and gruesome incident in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, the police have revealed that a young girl, Aarti, was killed by her own father, Ramlakhan, with the full complicity of her mother, Krishnavati. The couple had allegedly strangled their daughter and attempted to mislead the authorities by concocting a false story. Both have now been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The incident occurred on the night of January 4, sending shockwaves across the local community. Initially, Ramlakhan, also known as Ravi or Bathe, had filed a complaint at the Ghorawal police station claiming that unidentified intruders had entered their home and strangled his daughter. He even accused two young men in a fabricated narrative, presenting himself as a grieving father.
However, as the police investigation progressed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma and Area Officer Rahul Pandey, inconsistencies in his story raised suspicion. Post-mortem reports confirmed that Aarti had been strangled. Moreover, mobile call records, location data, CCTV footage, and other circumstantial evidence indicated that no outsiders had entered the house at the time of the murder.
Under intense questioning, Ramlakhan eventually confessed to killing his daughter with a dupatta, with his wife Krishnavati fully assisting him in the crime.
According to Officer Rahul Pandey, Aarti was reportedly in a relationship with a young man named Brijesh and wanted to live with him. Her parents, however, disapproved of the relationship and had arranged her marriage in Mirzapur. Angered by her refusal, the parents allegedly conspired together to murder her. After killing Aarti, they moved her body from the old concrete house to a storage area and tried to frame her lover and others.
The police have arrested both parents and placed them under judicial custody as the investigation continues.
