Khandwa:
A disturbing case of severe negligence has surfaced from the Community Health Center (CHC) in Killod, Khandwa. A viral video showing stray dogs comfortably resting on patient beds has triggered widespread outrage and raised major questions about the state of healthcare management in the region.
Stray Dogs Occupy Hospital Beds
In the shocking footage, three dogs can be seen lying on hospital beds meant for patients, completely unbothered. The incident has exposed glaring lapses in security and hygiene at the hospital. As the video spread across social media, the health department went into a state of panic.
Patient Recorded the Video, Complaint Sent to CMHO
The video was recorded by a patient present inside the ward. He immediately forwarded the footage to the Khandwa Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO). Following the complaint, the CMHO ordered an urgent inquiry into the matter. The video clearly reveals that security arrangements in the hospital have become almost non-existent.
Hospital Administration Under Scrutiny
The sight of stray dogs comfortably occupying hospital beds underscores extreme carelessness on the part of the hospital administration, the Block Medical Officer (BMO), and the security staff. The facility appears to have no functioning system to prevent animals from entering sensitive patient areas.
CMHO Issues Notice to BMO
Post the viral video, CMHO Dr. O.P. Jugtawat issued a notice to the BMO of the Killod Health Center, demanding an explanation. He stated that such negligence is unacceptable under any circumstances and assured strict action against those responsible.
Not the First Incident in Khandwa
This is not the first time healthcare facilities in Khandwa have come under fire. Earlier, visuals of rodents creating havoc at the district hospital had emerged—rats were seen gnawing on medicines, clothes and even mobile chargers. Repeated incidents reflect a deep-rooted administrative failure, putting patients’ lives at risk.
Collector Issues Stern Warning
Following the outrage, the Khandwa Collector has issued a strong warning to hospital authorities. He said that any similar negligence in the future would result in severe action against the BMO and other responsible officers. Instructions have also been issued to strengthen security and sanitation measures across all healthcare centers.
Concerns Over Patient Safety
The presence of stray animals inside hospital wards raises serious concerns about patient safety and potential infection risks. Hospitals are meant to be safe, sanitized spaces for treatment, yet the entry of animals indicates alarming gaps in basic management and supervision.
