Dhanbad, Jharkhand: In a horrifying incident near the East Bastacola area, located at the border of Dhansar and Jharia police jurisdictions, 15-year-old Nitish Kumar was brutally murdered. His body was discovered beneath an electric pole with deep head injuries, suggesting he was struck with a heavy object.
Locals found the boy’s body on Friday morning and alerted the Jharia police, who immediately dispatched a large contingent to the scene to investigate.
Iron Theft Dispute Suspected
DSP Naushad Alam of Dhanbad is leading a thorough investigation into the case. Preliminary inquiries indicate that Nitish may have been killed late Thursday night in connection with a dispute over stolen iron. While some speculated that he may have fallen while attempting to cut electric wires, the severe injuries on his head point to deliberate assault with stones or blunt objects.
Family in Shock
Nitish’s family arrived at the scene in deep grief. Father Heera Saw, mother Rinki Devi, and grandfather Gopal Saw were seen holding the boy’s lifeless body and demanding swift action against the perpetrators. Police have assured the family of every effort to bring the culprits to justice, while the shocking incident has raised concerns over local security.
Postmortem May Reveal Details
Shashi Ranjan Kumar, Station Officer of Jharia, confirmed that the case appears to be a deliberate homicide. The body has been sent for postmortem, which is expected to provide critical details regarding the exact cause of death. Authorities are investigating all aspects of the case and have pledged strict action against the guilty parties.
Illegal Activities in the Area
East Bastacola is near BCCL’s Area 6 Vishwakarma Project, from where large-scale theft of coal, iron, and other materials frequently occurs. Disputes over such thefts are common in the area, and preliminary reports suggest that a conflict over stolen iron may have led to Nitish’s murder. Police are actively investigating and are expected to solve the case soon.
