Shock in Nalanda: Thieves Steal ₹3 Crore Worth of Gold, Silver, and Cash from Former Village Head’s Home

Nalanda (Bihar): A meticulously planned theft worth approximately ₹3 crore has shaken residents of Nalanda district. The robbery took place late Tuesday night at the ancestral home of a former village head in Sherpur village under Asthawan police jurisdiction.

The thieves made away with nearly 3 kilograms of gold, 8 kilograms of silver, valuable silver utensils, and ₹50,000 in cash, leaving the local community in shock.

How the Theft Happened
The incident occurred when the family of the late Anil Kumar, former head of Mahmadpur Panchayat, had temporarily left the house after performing rituals at the ancestral home for his death anniversary on January 30. With the house left empty, the unknown burglars seized the opportunity to execute a well-coordinated robbery.

Signs of a Planned Crime
Locals noticed the house door suspiciously open and immediately informed the homeowners. Upon inspection, the family found that the thieves had broken the old lock, stolen valuables from a Godrej safe, and replaced it with a new lock in an attempt to conceal the crime. However, they left the upper door open, which eventually raised suspicion and led to the discovery of the theft.

Police Investigation Underway
Asthawan police promptly arrived at the scene and called in a dog squad and forensic team to collect evidence. The crime scene has been photographed and videographed, and local residents are being questioned as part of the investigation. The victims, Avinash Kumar and Reena Sinha, expressed that the family is deeply shocked by the magnitude of the theft.

The incident is being treated as one of the largest house robberies in the area in recent years, and police have assured a thorough investigation to apprehend the culprits.
