Shock at Mathura Junction: Man Abducts 5-Year-Old Boy, Escapes in Shuttle Train as Mother Cries for Help

Mathura:
A shocking incident of child abduction has exposed serious lapses in security at Mathura Junction railway station, where a five-year-old boy was kidnapped in broad daylight by a stranger who fled aboard a shuttle train, leaving the child’s mother screaming for help.

The incident occurred when Reshma, a resident of Vrindavan, arrived at the station with her three children—two sons and a daughter—to travel to her parental home in Agra. According to the complaint, a young man approached her at the ticket counter and handed her money, asking her to purchase a ticket for him as well. After collecting the tickets, Reshma moved to Platform No. 1, unaware that the man had begun closely following her family.

Child Separated as Part of a Planned Act

As the train was yet to arrive, Reshma took her younger daughter to the restroom, leaving her two sons near the luggage. Taking advantage of the moment, the suspect allegedly sent the elder son away on the pretext of calling his mother. Once the younger boy was left alone, the man quickly picked him up and boarded a shuttle train standing at the platform, escaping within moments.

When Reshma returned, the train had already started moving—and her younger son was nowhere to be seen. Her desperate cries alerted personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), but by then the kidnapper had vanished.

Police Launch Search Operation

Upon receiving the information, the child’s father Ejaz and other family members rushed to the station. The GRP registered a case of kidnapping based on the father’s complaint and launched an intensive search operation.

GRP Station House Officer Inspector Jitendra Singh said CCTV footage from the station is being examined and several crucial leads have been obtained. “Multiple police teams are working on the case. We are confident that the child will be recovered soon and the accused will be arrested,” he said.

Repeated Incidents Raise Security Concerns

The incident has once again raised serious questions about passenger and child safety at Mathura Junction. In recent years, several similar cases have been reported:

  • August 22, 2025: A one-year-old girl was stolen from the UP Sampark Kranti Express.
  • September 15, 2024: A seven-month-old infant went missing from the station premises.
  • 2021–2022: Multiple child theft incidents created panic among passengers.

The latest case has sparked outrage among travelers and locals, with growing demands for tighter surveillance, better policing, and stronger preventive measures to ensure the safety of children at major railway stations.
