Shivpuri: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Shivpuri police have arrested a young man carrying 280 grams of smack, valued at an astonishing ₹56 lakh in the market. The accused, who is himself addicted to the substance, was reportedly planning to distribute it across the Karera region. Legal action has been initiated under the NDPS Act.
Secret Tip Leads to Arrest
Karera SDOP (IPS) Dr. Ayush Jakhar revealed that based on a tip-off, the Amola police team conducted a raid near the Ramkudhi temple underpass. There, they intercepted 26-year-old Nilesh, son of Radhelal Lodhi, a resident of Sirsod village in Amola. Upon searching him, police recovered 280 grams of smack.
High-Value Seizure
The recovered consignment’s market value of ₹56 lakh stunned the authorities. Nilesh had reportedly intended to supply the drugs to smaller local traffickers in the Karera area. His motorcycle, used to transport the contraband, was also seized.
Background of the Accused
Initial investigations revealed that Nilesh has a history of drug use and had previously been implicated in two assault cases. Police are continuing interrogation to track the source of the consignment and identify any accomplices involved in the distribution network.
Dr. Jakhar emphasized that such strict enforcement under the NDPS Act is part of the ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.
