The incident, in which the ambulance had to follow the car for nearly 3 kilometers, was captured on video and went viral on social media, prompting police action.
Viral Video Sparks Action
According to reports, the 5-minute 40-second video shows an ambulance struggling to navigate through traffic while a car in front refuses to move aside. The ambulance driver repeatedly honked, trying to get the car to give way, but the vehicle continued to block the emergency vehicle.
Inside the ambulance, the driver recorded the ordeal, showing the patient and the uncooperative car, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The video quickly went viral, drawing public attention and outrage.
Police Take Strict Action
Shahjahanpur traffic police traced the car to Inderpal, a resident of Pachasa Mohalla in the Tilhar police area. Traffic Inspector Vinay Pandey confirmed that the car refused to give way to the ambulance for nearly 3 kilometers, despite repeated signals and honking. Following the viral video, the police issued a ₹10,000 traffic challan to the car owner, sending a clear message about the importance of prioritizing emergency vehicles.
