Sex Determination Racket Busted in Rajasthan: Six Arrested for Illegal Fetal Gender Tests

Jaipur: Authorities in Rajasthan have uncovered a large-scale illegal fetal sex determination racket operating in the Kotputli-Behror region near the Haryana border. The gang allegedly offered fetal gender determination for ₹80,000 per case. During a targeted operation, six accused were caught red-handed, and substantial evidence, including portable ultrasound machines, was seized.

Operation Details and Arrests

The Haryana-Rajasthan network was reportedly transporting pregnant women from Haryana to Rajasthan’s border areas for illegal prenatal gender testing. Under the leadership of nodal officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav, a special task force monitored the gang and raided a property in Kotputli, where the suspects were taking pregnant women for testing. Three accused were apprehended on-site, while additional suspects were later arrested from Charkhi Dadri and Satnali.

The arrested individuals include Birendra, Sunil, Jitendra, Dharmveer, Anand Jangid, and Pawan Kumar. All six have been booked under stringent provisions of the PCPNDT Act, BNS, and NMC Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify others linked to the network.

Decoy Operation and Evidence Collection

The crackdown followed a tip-off received by the Narnaul PCPNDT Authority on 24 December 2025. To confirm the allegations, authorities used a decoy woman under the ‘Beti Bachao’ initiative. Communications via WhatsApp calls and chats revealed the ₹80,000 deal, with payments made in three installments through PhonePe. These digital transactions were secured as evidence.

On 18 January, the gang transported the decoy woman from Raghunathpura, Narnaul, to a house in Kotputli’s Barabas locality. Inside, a portable ultrasound machine was being used to determine fetal gender. The raid yielded the machine, medical equipment, four cars, two motorcycles, mobile phones, WhatsApp chats, video recordings, and other digital evidence. Another pregnant woman, who had previously undergone testing, was also found at the location; her husband had fled.

Legal Action

All suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation. The PCPNDT authorities and law enforcement are now examining the full extent of the network and identifying additional participants involved in this illegal racket, which violates the law banning prenatal sex determination in India.

This bust highlights the continued enforcement of the PCPNDT Act and the crackdown on illegal gender determination practices, which perpetuate gender discrimination and female foeticide.
