Patna, Bihar: The Bihar administration has taken proactive measures to safeguard children as the state grapples with severe cold and dense fog. In response to the harsh weather conditions, the District Magistrate of Patna, Dr. Thyagarajan S.M., has directed that all schools up to Class 8 remain closed until 2 January 2026.
Precautionary Measures for Young Children
The order, effective from 31 December 2025, applies to both government and private schools. Along with schools, Anganwadi centers have also been instructed to remain closed. Officials emphasized that young children and the elderly are most vulnerable to extreme cold, and precautionary measures are essential to protect their health.
Adjusted Timings for Higher Classes
To ensure that academic activities continue for older students, classes above Class 8 will now be conducted from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, rather than the regular schedule.
Severe Cold and Widespread Chill
The district administration noted that this step is purely for the safety and well-being of students. Bihar is currently experiencing an intense cold spell, with cold wave conditions affecting most regions, disrupting daily life across the state. Authorities have assured that precautionary measures will remain in place until the weather improves.
