Security Tightened for Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Amid Threats at Magh Mela; CCTV Cameras Installed Around Camp

Prayagraj: Security concerns have heightened around Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand following reported threats to his life during the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj. Devotees and disciples of the revered saint have alleged that unruly elements in disguise are attempting to create mischief around the camp, prompting precautionary measures.

To ensure the safety of the spiritual leader, ten high-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed around his camp, and a dedicated control room has been set up to monitor all movements in and around the area. The disciples claim that these security measures are essential as rogue elements could attempt to carry out untoward activities at any time.

Heightened Surveillance Measures

The disciples alleged that disguised troublemakers were moving around the camp, raising fears of potential conspiracy or harm. The CCTV setup is designed to provide continuous, real-time monitoring of all activities, ensuring that any suspicious activity is immediately detected.

Additionally, the police administration has been maintaining security in the vicinity since the day of Mouni Amavasya, with intelligence units (LIU) and other central and state agencies keeping a close watch.

Security Priority

According to Shailendra Yogiraj Sarkar, the National Media Representative of Swami Avimukteshwaranand, the surveillance setup—including CCTV cameras—is a preventive measure. “Some notices were being posted at night by authorities, so monitoring all arrivals and departures is essential. We cannot predict when any unauthorized action may take place,” he said.

He further emphasized that security arrangements have been primarily initiated and maintained by the saint’s devotees, underscoring the critical importance of ensuring the safety of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand during the high-profile religious gathering.

The surveillance and precautionary measures aim to guarantee that the revered spiritual leader can participate in the Magh Mela events without any threat to his life or safety.
