Bijapur: The anti-Naxal campaign in Chhattisgarh continues on multiple fronts. While security forces are conducting major operations against Maoist cadres, they are simultaneously reaching out to communities in remote villages to strengthen trust, promote development and encourage people to join the mainstream.
Under the state government’s ‘Jan-Judaav and Vishwas’ (Public Connect & Trust) initiative, security personnel have been holding interactive sessions with villagers to understand their concerns and counter Maoist influence.
Listening to Villagers, Strengthening Trust
Security personnel have been visiting interior villages, hearing grievances and motivating residents to distance themselves from Maoist ideology. During Monday’s outreach, forces held discussions across several villages and urged locals not to support Naxalites in any form.
Officials said such interactions are crucial in guiding people towards peace and progress, and in breaking the chain of support that sustains the Maoist movement.
Key Points of Discussion With Villagers
1. Awareness of Surrender & Rehabilitation Policy
Villagers are informed in detail about the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, highlighting benefits for those willing to leave the Maoist fold.
2. Motivating Families to Bring Back Active Maoists
Security forces encourage families and relatives to motivate any active Maoist member to abandon violence and return to the mainstream.
3. Reporting Suspicious Activities
Residents are advised to immediately inform the nearest police station or security camp if they spot suspicious objects, individuals or activities in nearby forests or pathways.
4. Addressing Problems Through Mobile Police Stations
Through ‘Mobile Police Stations,’ officers listen to villagers’ issues on the spot and attempt to resolve them promptly.
5. Cyber Awareness & Safety Laws
Villagers are educated about cyber frauds such as ATM scams, UPI frauds and other digital crimes. They are also informed about new legal provisions related to the safety of women and children.
‘Do Not Support Naxalites,’ Officials Appeal
Officials urged villagers not to assist Maoist groups in any form. Security personnel explained how Naxalites hinder development and keep tribal communities deprived.
They said that without public support, Maoist objectives cannot be achieved.
Ongoing Anti-Naxal Operations
Security forces in Chhattisgarh have intensified their operations this year, neutralising several top Maoist leaders. Officials said repeated successful encounters and increased surrenders have significantly weakened the Maoist organisation.
The steady decline in Naxal activities, combined with strong community engagement, is paving the way for a more peaceful and developed Bastar region.
