Chapra, Bihar: In a major crackdown on liquor smugglers, Saran police conducted a targeted operation named “Operation Clean”, exposing a secret compartment inside a truck that concealed 2,593 litres of foreign liquor along with illegal firearms. The raid, carried out in Garkha police station jurisdiction, also led to the seizure of seven vehicles and other contraband, while one key smuggler was arrested.

Smugglers Attempted Night Distribution

Acting on credible intelligence from Bihar’s Prohibition Department, the Garkha police intercepted the operation in Hata village, where 10–15 individuals were unloading liquor cartons from a truck under the cover of darkness. Spotting the police, the suspects fled, attempting to evade capture.

Hidden Compartment Revealed

During a detailed search, police discovered a specially constructed hidden compartment inside the truck, where hundreds of liquor cartons were stashed. Authorities also seized two pickup trucks, two cars, one truck, and a motorcycle at the site. Further investigation at the shop of the main recipient, Pankaj Singh, yielded two pistols, two local firearms, mobile phones, and wallets, escalating the gravity of the case.

Arrest Made, Network Under Scrutiny

Based on further leads, police arrested Bablu Singh from Lalu Yadav Chowk in Sonpur. He is currently under interrogation as officers work to map both the backward and forward links of the smuggling network.

ASP Rampukar Singh stated that this operation marks only the beginning, and every link in the illegal liquor trade will face strict legal action. The successful raid has not only instilled fear among smugglers but also reinforced public confidence in the proactive efforts of the Saran police.
