Satna Collector Reschedules School Timings to Protect Students Amid Severe Cold Wave

Satna, Madhya Pradesh: In view of the rapidly dropping temperatures and intensifying cold conditions in Satna district, the district administration has taken a significant step to safeguard the health of schoolchildren. Dr. Satish Kumar S, Collector and District Magistrate, has issued an order revising the operational hours for all schools in the district. The order will come into effect from Monday, 17th November 2025, and will remain in force until further notice.

Revised Timings for Morning Classes

According to the order, all government, private, central schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, ICSE, CBSE, and other recognized institutions operating morning shifts for nursery to class 8 will now begin at 9:00 AM. Schools are strictly prohibited from conducting classes before this revised timing. Any violation of this directive will invite penal action.

Health Concerns Behind the Decision

Over the past few days, Satna has witnessed a sharp rise in cold intensity during the early morning hours, creating conditions similar to a cold wave. Young children are particularly vulnerable to low temperatures, increasing the risk of common cold, viral infections, and pneumonia. The district administration took this proactive step to minimize health risks and ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Examinations Unaffected

The administration has clarified that the revised school timings will not affect any ongoing examinations. All scheduled exams, including half-yearly assessments, will proceed at their previously announced times. The change applies only to regular morning classes.

School authorities have been instructed to strictly adhere to the revised timings and ensure the safety of students while commuting to and from school.
