Satna Bribe Case: Lokayukta Catches Naib Tehsildar Red-Handed Taking ₹10,000 Bribe Inside Tehsil Office

In a strong action against corruption, the Lokayukta Police, Rewa, on Thursday arrested a Naib Tehsildar red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 inside the Satna tehsil office. The accused officer was caught sitting on his official chair and taking money from the complainant when the Lokayukta team swooped in and trapped him.

The arrested official has been identified as Virendra Singh Jaisur, posted as Naib Tehsildar in Rampur Baghelan Tehsil of Satna district. The dramatic arrest caused panic and commotion across the tehsil premises, as officials and citizens looked on in shock.

Bribe Demanded for Ancestral Land Partition

According to Lokayukta officials, the case relates to the partition and mutation of ancestral land registered in the name of Chandrashekhar Singh, father of the complainant Ashutosh Singh. The Naib Tehsildar allegedly demanded a total bribe of ₹20,000 for clearing and passing the required official orders.

Ashutosh Singh lodged a formal complaint with the Rewa Lokayukta office on December 15. After verification, the allegations were found to be genuine. During the verification process itself, the accused officer reportedly accepted the first installment of ₹10,000, further strengthening the case against him.

Trapped While Accepting Remaining Amount

Following confirmation of the bribery demand, the Lokayukta team prepared a trap. On Thursday, December 18, Ashutosh Singh reached the tehsil office with the remaining ₹10,000. As soon as the Naib Tehsildar accepted the money, the Lokayukta officials, already present in plain clothes, caught him red-handed.

The sudden action created chaos in the tehsil office, with work coming to a standstill for some time.

Case Registered Under Prevention of Corruption Act

After the arrest, the Lokayukta team completed the necessary legal formalities at the spot. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.

This incident once again highlights that despite continuous vigilance and strict action by the Lokayukta, some officials continue to indulge in corrupt practices, undermining public trust in the administrative system.
