Satna, Madhya Pradesh: A dramatic turn has emerged in the high-profile case involving BJP councillor Ashok Singh from Satna, following the circulation of a viral video. The woman who had earlier accused Singh of rape has now revised her statement, clarifying that no sexual assault occurred, and that the incident involved only molestation and indecent conduct.
Midnight Change in Statement:
The woman personally submitted a written application at Rampur Baghelan police station, stating that while Ashok Singh engaged in obscene gestures and harassment, there was no rape. Based on her revised statement, police have dropped the rape charges and booked Singh under sections 74, 75(2), 79, 296(1), and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to molestation and intimidation. Sub-Inspector Preeti Kushwaha confirmed that the woman’s updated account has redirected the investigation.
Victim’s Previous Statement:
Five days ago, the woman had alleged before the Superintendent of Police that she had been raped and blackmailed with a video. Singh’s wife, Rekha Singh, is the current BJP councillor of Ward No. 1 in Rampur Baghelan Nagar Parishad.
