Khargone, Madhya Pradesh: The Sanawad police in Khargone district have uncovered a sophisticated honey-trap gang that blackmailed victims using intimate videos to extort money. The gang, comprising three women and two men, would lure victims, secretly record videos, and threaten to circulate them or implicate the victims in false cases to demand large sums of money.
The Lure
According to the complaint filed at Sanawad Police Station, a victim from Satajana village stated that on 2 February, a woman identifying herself as Sapna repeatedly called him and invited him to her home in Padmavati Colony, Sanawad. Once he arrived, the woman led him into a room under the pretext of consensual interaction, when suddenly two men and another woman entered.
Blackmail and Extortion
The gang threatened the victim using a hidden mobile phone, demanding ₹2.5 lakh while threatening to release the video, falsely accuse him of rape, or even harm him physically. The victim paid ₹10,000 on 6 February due to fear, but the harassment continued, causing severe mental distress.
Police Action
A case was registered under Sections 308(7), 351(3), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Under the leadership of Sanawad Station House Officer Dharmendra Yadav, the police acted swiftly, arresting the main accused, Vaijanti Duboliya, who admitted to committing the crime with her accomplices. Subsequently, two other women, Samir Ali, and Sawan More were also arrested. Authorities recovered ₹10,000 in cash and objectionable videos from the accused. All suspects have been presented in court.
