Sand Mafia Tramples Police Personnel with Scorpio in Patna; One Officer Killed, Another Injured

Patna, Bihar: In a horrifying incident in Patna, sand mafia goons brutally attacked two Bihar Police SAP personnel, beating them before running them over with a Scorpio SUV. The attack resulted in the death of one officer, while the other remains critically injured. The incident occurred in the Dulhin Bazar area of Paliganj subdivision, sparking fear and outrage across the city.

Incident Details

  • Late Monday night, the District Mining Department team conducted a raid at Amwa Inar, Dulhin Bazar, targeting illegal sand mining operations.
  • During the operation, the team seized a tractor loaded with illegally mined sand. The tractor driver fled the scene, and two SAP officers were escorting the vehicle to the police station—one driving, the other accompanying.
  • Approximately 200–300 meters from the station, mafia operatives in a Scorpio overtook the tractor and stopped it, initiating a violent attack on the officers with sticks and rods.

Brutality of the Attack

  • The fleeing officers were trampled by the Scorpio, leaving both severely injured on the roadside.
  • Passersby alerted the police, who rushed the officers to a local PHC. Given the severity of their injuries, they were referred to PMCH.
  • On the way to PMCH, Officer Dukharan Paswan succumbed to his injuries, while Officer Lakshman Singh continues to receive treatment.

Police Response

  • Dulhin Bazar Station Officer Sonu Kumar confirmed that the Mining Department team had carried out the raid targeting illegal sand extraction and transportation.
  • The team had reportedly not informed the local police before initiating the operation.
  • Police have initiated further action based on the incident, though no formal written complaint has been submitted yet by the Mining Department.

This shocking act highlights the growing audacity of illegal mining syndicates in Bihar, raising serious concerns about law enforcement safety and the need for urgent action against organized sand mafias.
