Salute to the Fire Brigade’s Swift Action: Life Saved in Jaipur Safari Blaze

Jaipur: A terrifying incident at Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur turned into a dramatic rescue as a fire broke out in a tourist safari vehicle (canter) on Sunday afternoon. Fifteen tourists on board were safely evacuated, thanks to the prompt action of the park staff and the fire department.

Blaze Erupts Mid-Safari
The tourist canter, carrying 15 passengers, was on a safari tour when smoke started billowing from the engine. As the smoke filled the vehicle, some tourists attempted to exit, but the driver stopped them, warning of the presence of a lion nearby. The driver immediately contacted the control room, which dispatched a second vehicle. Within 5 to 7 minutes, the backup vehicle arrived, and all tourists were safely transferred.

Canter Engulfed in Flames
Within 8 to 10 minutes, sparks from the engine ignited a full-blown fire, consuming the entire vehicle. Initial attempts by the park’s fire team to douse the flames were insufficient, prompting a call to the Jaipur Fire Department. Firefighters from Amer Fire Station arrived in about 10 minutes and successfully brought the blaze under control in roughly 30 minutes.

Lions in the Vicinity Intensify Danger
The incident occurred as the canter was passing through the area of a lion named “Shakti.” Tourists were trapped inside with smoke filling the vehicle and a lion roaming outside, heightening the danger. The driver’s calm and prompt measures prevented any casualties and ensured the tourists’ safety.

Second Close Call in Six Weeks
This is the second major incident in the park within the last six weeks. About 15 days ago, a safari vehicle carrying tourists got stuck in mud near a tree, where a lion was resting. The tourists panicked as the lion was just meters away. Another vehicle was dispatched from the control room to safely evacuate them.

Conclusion
These incidents highlight both the unpredictability of wildlife safaris and the importance of swift, trained emergency response. The coordinated efforts of the canter driver, park staff, and fire department turned a potentially disastrous situation into a successful rescue.
