Meerut, UP: A shocking case of intimidation and vandalism unfolded late Tuesday night at a restaurant in the Face-To area of Pallavpuram, Meerut. The incident involved the brother of BJP councillor Vikrant Dhaka and a Delhi Police constable, who allegedly vandalized the restaurant and assaulted an employee. Police have arrested three people and are searching for the fourth suspect.
Vivek Dahiya, the restaurant owner and resident of Jamalpur village, told police that around a dozen men arrived in two cars while he was preparing to close the restaurant for the night. Among the accused were Shivang Dhaka, brother of BJP councillor Vikrant Dhaka, Rohit, a Delhi Police constable from Mohammadpur village, and Monu, a resident of the same village, along with their associates.
According to Dahiya, the accused immediately opposed the restaurant’s closure and threatened to kill him if he did not keep it open. When he resisted, they became violent—smashing the counter’s glass and brutally assaulting an employee who tried to intervene. Customers present in the restaurant were left in shock.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the restaurant, which have been handed over to the police. Following Dahiya’s complaint at Pallavpuram police station, a case was registered against the three named individuals and approximately ten unidentified persons under multiple sections of the law. Police promptly arrested Shivang Dhaka, Monu, and Hariom, while the Delhi Police constable Rohit is currently absconding. Authorities are conducting a search to apprehend him.
SP City Ayush Bikram Singh stated that the preliminary investigation revealed the men had come to the restaurant to dine. A dispute arose over the restaurant closing, escalating into assault and vandalism. “The CCTV footage is being thoroughly analyzed, and strict action will be taken against all involved based on evidence,” he added.
