Agra/Mumbai, February 17, 2026: The Mumbai Crime Branch, with assistance from the Uttar Pradesh STF, raided Bijauli village in Agra and arrested Vishnu Kushwaha in connection with the recent firing incident at film director Rohit Shetty’s residence.
Vishnu, the son of a local farmer, had once dreamed of joining the army, but unknown to his family, he became a shooter for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. His parents are left heartbroken after his arrest.
The STF team apprehended Vishnu and another individual, Dinesh, on Sunday. Dinesh was later released; he had returned home from Gujarat two days prior and works in catering. Vishnu’s father, Surajpal Kushwaha, stated that Vishnu had completed a BA and returned to the village from Delhi two months ago. “He used to spend mornings and evenings at the village gym. His acquaintance with Pradeep Sharma, aka Golu, led him astray,” Surajpal said. The family primarily relies on farming and tractor work, while his elder brothers, Santosh and Dinesh, work in catering outside the village.
Pradeep Sharma Arrested Earlier
Pradeep Sharma, alias Golu, had been arrested by Delhi Police in June 2025 for an attack on a Rajasthan-based businessman. After being released on bail, he resumed criminal activities and was arrested again on January 16, 2026, from Uttar Nagar, Delhi.
Operation Kept Under Wraps
The Mumbai Police coordinated with the UP STF and Haryana STF for Vishnu’s arrest. The operation was highly secretive, with local police unaware of the plan.
Key Link Between Shooters and Gang
Authorities revealed that Vishnu Kushwaha acted as a crucial link between the shooters and the gang. He facilitated communication between the main accused, Deepak, and his associates, enabling the firing at Rohit Shetty’s residence. Ghaziabad-based individuals Jatin Bhardwaj and Vishal have also been arrested in connection with the case.
