‘Rockstar Bahu’: Tanya Singh’s Veiled Guitar Performance Goes Viral Nationwide

Ghaziabad: A young bride from Uttar Pradesh has taken social media by storm after a video of her singing and playing the guitar during her muh dikhai ceremony went viral across the country. Dressed in a yellow saree with a traditional veil, Tanya Singh—now widely known as the ‘Rockstar Bahu’—has captured the hearts of millions with her melodious voice and confident performance.

The video, recorded on 30 November 2025 during a women’s function at her wedding in Mohanmadpur Kadim village of Modinagar, shows Tanya gracefully pulling her veil aside while singing and strumming the guitar. Viewers praised her voice, confidence and unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Assistant Professor by Profession, Viral Sensation Overnight

Originally from Etah, Tanya is an Assistant Professor at Munna Lal Devi Degree College in Saharanpur. She had just finished performing on the dholak when her husband, Aditya Gautam, encouraged her to pick up the guitar. She began singing the classic song “Ek Din Aap Yun Humko Mil Jayenge” as the women around her recorded the moment—unknowingly capturing a clip that would soon spread across India.

Within hours of the video going online, Tanya began receiving calls from students, relatives, and acquaintances from across the country.

Learned Guitar from YouTube During Lockdown

Tanya’s musical journey began in childhood, inspired by her mother who sings beautifully. Though she did not study music until graduation, her brother and mother enrolled her in a music school in Agra, which laid the foundation for her training.
She never learned guitar professionally—instead, she taught herself during the COVID lockdown using her brother’s guitar and YouTube tutorials.

“I never imagined that the same guitar would give me recognition across the country,” she says.

No Compulsion Behind the Veil — It Was My Choice

Responding to social media debates about her veil, Tanya clarified that the ghoonghat was entirely voluntary.

“As a bride, I wanted to follow all the traditional rituals. I laugh a lot, and even that day I couldn’t stop smiling. With the veil, I felt more comfortable while singing. My mother-in-law was also adjusting my veil repeatedly because she feared someone’s evil eye.”

A Simple Wedding and a Modern Love Story

Tanya’s husband, Aditya Gautam, is an SDO in the electricity department in Saharanpur. The two met through a matrimonial website, and with their families’ approval, the relationship progressed smoothly.

Their wedding was held on 28 November 2025 at the historic Triyugi Narayan Temple in Sonprayag, Uttarakhand—simple, intimate, and attended only by close family members.

More Songs Coming Soon

Buoyed by overwhelming public support, Tanya plans to record and upload more songs on social media. Her husband and both families are encouraging her to continue her passion for music.

With her talent, humility, and viral charm, India’s new ‘Guitar-Wali Bahu’ is ready to strike many more chords in the days to come.
