
Muzaffarpur, Bihar: In a shocking incident raising serious questions about law and order, young RJD leader Mantu Sah (35) was shot dead near Dharmapur Chowk in Rampurhari police station area of Muzaffarpur on Monday. The assailants fired three bullets into his chest, killing him on the spot. The incident caused panic in the local area.
Evidence Recovered, Locals Protested
Police reached the scene and recovered three spent cartridges. Local residents expressed outrage and initially refused to allow the body to be moved for approximately four hours. Eventually, officials convinced the villagers, and the body was sent for post-mortem.
Mantu Sah was the president of the RJD Youth Front in Dharmapur Panchayat and was also involved in contracting and money-laundering activities. Police are examining nearby CCTV footage to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
Friend Suspected of Conspiracy
According to Mantu Sah’s father, his friend Ramesh Rai had come to his home in the morning and took Mantu with him. Shortly thereafter, the family received news of the murder. Authorities suspect that Ramesh Rai may have orchestrated the killing. He was recently released on bail from prison and had previously been jailed in a liquor-related case. There was also a financial dispute between the two. Ramesh Rai is currently in police custody for questioning.
Struggle Reported at Crime Scene
Locals reported that a struggle broke out between Mantu and the assailants before the shooting. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has collected evidence from the site. DSP East Ajay Vats and police from Rampurhari and Minapur police stations are on the scene. SSP Sushil Kumar confirmed that the investigation is proceeding from multiple angles, and several individuals have been detained for questioning. Police are confident of apprehending the perpetrators soon.
